What you need to know

Opportunity Zones are low-income or "economically distressed" communities where qualifying new investments may be eligible for tax benefits. The goal is to promote economic development and job creation by encouraging new investments.

Opportunity Zones have been designated in all 50 states in the US, the District of Columbia, and five US possessions.
To qualify for nomination as an Opportunity Zone, a census tract must meet the following low-income requirements.
The OZ program was created to stimulate private investment in OZ communities in exchange for capital gain tax incentives
Here’s a map showing how many Opportunity Zones were created from the eligible census tracts.
