2006 Rodman Site (former Del Campo Bakery) – Brownfield Redevelopment

BATTA Environmental was tasked with supporting the 2006 Rodman site through the Brownfield Certification and Grant Application process. The site is located in Wilmington, Delaware and was the former Del Campo Bakery, a former leather drying facility. Everyone around Delaware remembers the old Del Campo Bakery as it was very popular, however this site has been home to various businesses over the years. Future plans for the property includes its use as a warehouse and storage facility.

BATTA has successfully conducted the Phase I Environmental Site Assessment and provided extensive soil and groundwater testing. There were multiple underground storage tanks located on the property that may have potentially contaminated the soil over time which warranted concern and ultimately the need for extensive soil and groundwater testing. BATTA also performed an ecological risk assessment of the silver brook creek, which runs along the property. This assessment was completed to determine if any ecological damage had been done to the creek. BATTA has laid out their conclusions for a future Phase II assessment of an historic fill at the railroad spur and several other proposals.
